2018 Recipients

The Antonakos Foundation is honored to have named Juliana Lewis, Micayla McMahon, Grayson Meadors, Caroline Melton, and Cameron Saunders as the 2018 scholarship winners. The foundation continues to be very appreciative of our generous sponsors and community givers that have made these 5 scholarships possible this year. Due to your continued support and love for the Antonakos family, the foundation has graciously awarded $42,000 is scholarship monies!

Cameron Saunders

Cameron is a graduate of JL Mann High School. She has earned the following honors: JL Mann Student of Integrity, American Legion Award, AP Scholar with Distinction, Best All Around, and Academic Scholar/Bar. While attending JL Mann, Cameron participated in Student Council as Student Body President, National Honors Society, Youth in Government, and Fellowship of Christian Athletics. She was actively involved in sports including: Varsity Volleyball, Upward Stars Volleyball, and Spaulding Farm Swim Team. Cameron gives of her time serving on Inter High Council, Young Life Worship Leader, Frazee Center, and Church Ministry and Small Group Leader.

Cameron will be attending Clemson University Calhoun Honors College and plans to major in Nursing with a minor is Spanish.

“…the Antonakos family left a legacy of love all over our community. I hope that I can honor them by showing love to my family and the community that the Antonakos family adored so much.”

Caroline Melton

Caroline is a graduate of Greenville High School. She has earned the following honors: National Honor Society, USC Upstate Scholar Recipient, Youth Sunday Preacher at Christ Church, GHS Swimming Varsity Letter, GHS Golf Varsity Letter, GHS Track Varsity Letter, GHS XC Varsity Letter Winner, etc. While attending GHS, Caroline participated in Nautilus Yearbook Sports Editor and Senior Co Editor, Youth in Government, Young Life, etc. She was actively involved in sports including: Varsity Swimming, Varsity Track, Varsity XC, Varsity Golf, Church Basketball, and Stone Lake Swim Team and Coach. Caroline gives of her time serving on Christ Church EYC, Koinonia Christ Church, Christ Church Student Leadership Team, Christ Church Acolyte and Chalice Bearer, READ Greenville, Greenville Literacy, United Ministries Food Drive, etc.

Caroline will be attending Furman University and plans to major in Health Science.

“I have come to the realization that an act of service, no matter how small, can benefit others.”

Grayson Meadors

Grayson is a graduate of the Fine Arts Center and JL Mann High School. She has earned the following honors: Scholastic Art and Writing Award, National Art Honors Society, JL Mann Art and Writing award, Erskine Fellow, Lander University Junior Fellow, etc. While attending JL Mann, Grayson participated in Mann Nation, President of the Outdoor Club, Youth in Government, Spanish Club, and Activa Tu Speaking. She was actively involved in sports including: JV and Varsity Lacrosse, Dance, and Gymnastics. Grayson gives of her time serving on Rebuild Upstate, St. Paul’s Youth Group, Spanish Tutor, Mission Trips, and Lucky Pup Rescue.

Grayson will be attending Elon University and plans to major in International/Global Studies with a minor in Spanish.

“The greatest things I have realized over the four years I have spent at JL Mann are to find the things in life you are passionate about and invest in them, and to keep the ones you love close.”

Micayla McMahon

Micayla is a graduate of JL Mann High School. She has earned the following honors: AP Scholar with Distinction, Junior Marshall, Highest GPA for an Athlete Award, 2nd Place National Champion Clogger, and National Art Honor Society, etc. While attending JL Mann, Micayla participated in MEDEX Academy School Rep., Palmetto Girls State, Youth Leadership Greenville, National Honor Society, Key and Interact Clubs, etc. She was actively involved in sports including: competitive dance, JV and Varsity Basketball, Varsity Softball, and Church Basketball. Micayla gives of her time by serving on Project Host, Greenville Health Volunteer, Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership, Church Youth Mission, and Volunteer Basketball Coach.

Micayla will be attending Clemson University Calhoun Honors College and plans to major in Biochemistry/Pre-Pharmacy with a minor in Business.

“My goal is to be a medical professional because of the lasting impacts on one’s life that one act of kindness or treatment can have.”

Juliana Lewis

Juliana is a graduate of Greenville High School, in which she graduated in the top 6% of her class. She has earned the following honors: the Greenville Chapter Vanderbilt Book Award for Leadership, MLK Sports Leadership, Erskine College Fellow, and the Marcus Lattimore Leadership Awards, etc. While attending GHS, Juliana participated in many leadership roles, serving on Student Council, National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Spanish Club. She was actively involved in sports, as well, including: Varsity Lacrosse, Varsity Basketball, Travel Lacrosse teams, Church and Travel Basketball teams. Juliana gives of her time by serving on Palmetto Girls State, Buncombe Street United Methodist Evangelism Board, BSUMC Youth Leadership Team, Meals On Wheels and the Frazee Center.

Juliana will be attending Clemson University and plans to major in Pre-Business.

“The friends of the Antonakos family were able to take something so tragic and horrific and turn it into a time to lean on one another, to grow in their trust of the Lord, and to glorify Him. There is certainly no better legacy.”
