2017 Recipients

The Antonakos Foundation was honored to have named Davis Crews, Adam Enggasser, Anna Lee Henry, Megan Keech, Alaina Riordan and Will Williamson as the 2017 scholars. This year we added an additional recipient due to the outstanding applications that we received.  It was just too close for our grading committee to decide and we are elated to be able to do offer this.   The foundation is greatly appreciative for our generous sponsors and community givers that have made this all possible. Please read to learn more about the 5 recipients and all that they have achieved.    The foundation is very proud of each of these individuals and all that they have accomplished.  They truly represent the living legacies of the Antonakos family.

Megan Keech

Megan Keech is a graduate of JL Mann High School and was the 2017 Valedictorian. She was awarded with National Honor Society Induction Speaker, Junior Marshall, Best Musician Award, Biology Student of the Year, Academic Letter, Band Letter, Chemistry Student of High Achievement, Academic Bar, AP Scholar with Distinction, etc. She served on the JL Mann Marching and Concert Band, Youth in Government, Science Team, National Honor Society, and Spanish Club. Megan serves our community through Carolina Youth Symphony, Advent UMC Volunteer, Roper Mountain Science Center, Model United Nations as Resource Staff, and Langston Lego Team Assistant.

Megan attends Clemson University where she is majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

“I think my true potential derives from my passion for helping others and my desire to improve lives the way others have improved mine.”

Adam Enggasser

Adam Enggasser is a graduate of Greenville High School and was the 2017 Valedictorian. He was been awarded the SC DHEC Champions of the Environment award, EEASC Outstanding Youth award, SC DHEC Recycling Grant Recipient, Academy of Model Aeronautics National Youth Leadership Award, AP Scholar with Distinction Winner, AOPA National High School Flight Training Scholarship Winner. While attending Greenville High School he participated in numerous activities including: Citizen Science Club, VEX Robotics, National Beta Club, Recycling Club and National Honor Society. He volunteers his time with the following organizations – Roper Mountain Science Center, Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Water Quality Monitoring, Various River clean-ups, Various radio-controlled airplane fly-ins, USCYAA Volunteer and Founder and Coordinator for Youth Aviation Day. Adam enjoys freestyle canoeing, Mountain Biking and Cycling, and Hiking.

Adam attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is majoring in Environmental Sciences with a minor in Psychology, Mathematics and Physics.

Alaina Riordan

Alaina Riordan is a graduate of Wade Hampton High School where she was awarded: Wendy Heisman State Finalist, National Merit Commended Scholar, Junior Marshall, National Champion in Relay, and WHHS Academic Honor Roll Athlete. She served on Student Council, National Honor Society, Young Life and Campaigners, Green Club, and Junior Civitan. Alaina participated in year round swimming, WHHA Cross Country, Track and Field, and Swimming. She serves our community through Westside aquatics, Special Olympics, Humane Society, GHS, and YSSC.

Alaina attends the University of Tennessee and is majoring in Pre-Medicine with a minor is Psychology.

“When the Lord closes the door on a dream, He cracks open the window of opportunity; I am willing to jump out of it to reach new heights and discern what my duty is.”

Will Williamson

Will Williamson is a graduate of Greenville High School where is was awarded Palmetto Boys State, Palmetto Boys State Junior Counselor, and Best All Around Senior Superlative. He served on Student Council all four years, Sr. Class Vice President, GTV Broadcast TV, Beta Club, and Teacher Cadet. Will serves our community through the Cancer Survivors Park, Meyer Center Volunteer, Make-A-Wish, Ronald McDonald House, and Special Olympics. He participated in GHS Varsity Baseball, Summer Travel Baseball Teams, Church Basketball, and JV Varsity Basketball.

Will attends Presbyterian College and majoring in Sports Management.

“I have been taught since the day I was born, live life to the fullest and always be humble. I try to live my life every day by being a positive role model not only at my school but to the community as well.”

Anna Lee Henry

Anna Lee Henry is a graduate of JL Mann High School where she was awarded National Honor Society, Academic Letter, Academic Bar, Highest Honors, and Homecoming Queen. She served on Student Council as sophomore executive, junior secretary, student body executive and National Honor Society. Anna Lee serves our community through her Church, Trinity Lutheran, Young Life, Mauldin Miracle League, and Special Olympics. She participated in Varsity Lacrosse and served as Team Captain, Travel Lacrosse teams, SC National Lacrosse Team, JV Volleyball, Church Basketball and Neighborhood Swim Team.

Anna Lee attends Clemson University and is majoring in Special Education.

“I plan to continue being a leader and honoring, serving and giving to others so I can be an advocate in my community.”

Davis Crews

Davis Crews is a graduate of Eastside High School and has been awarded the Harry Denman Evangelism award, Young Citizenship award, US Senate Scholarship, Eagle Scout and the Alpha Phi Alpha MLK Award.  While attending Eastside, Davis was actively involved in Student Government, Youth in Government, Academic Team, National Science Honor Society and Varsity Choir.  He serves our community by volunteering with Heart to Hand Founder (hunger awareness), Stop Hunger Now, Boy Scouts of America, UMC Great Day of Service and Community Theater.  Davis actively participates in Church Basketball, Hiking and SCUBA.

Davis attends Vanderbilt University and is majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Public Policy.

“As I look forward to my future, I imagine myself as a medical researcher looking for treatments and cures for those among us with the least hope of living long productive lives.”

Megan Keech
